Oscar-Claude Monet was a French painter and a founder of Impressionism, known for his efforts to capture nature as he perceived it. Throughout his career, he was a key figure in plein air (outdoor) landscape painting, consistently expressing the philosophy of Impressionism.
Claude Monet created Port-Goulphar, Belle-Île in 1887. It is now part of the collection at Art Gallery of New South Wales in Australia.
