Jan Brueghel the Elder was a Flemish Baroque painter known for his detailed still lifes, landscapes, and allegorical works. Often collaborating with other artists, his exquisite renderings of nature and rich use of color made him a prominent figure in 16th-century Flemish art.
Jan Brueghel the Elder created Hearing (The Five Senses in Five Paintings) in 1618. It is now part of the collection at Museo Nacional del Prado in Spain.
