Sir John Everett Millais was an English painter and illustrator who co-founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He is best known for his detailed, realistic paintings, including Ophelia, which became one of the defining works of the movement.
John Everett Millais created The Rescue in 1855. It is now part of the collection at National Gallery of Victoria in Australia.
